Audrey Pavy Owen, age 84, died March 18, 2009 in San Diego, California.

She was born September 11, 1924 in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of John Samuel Pavy and Eula Mae Moore. They were a hard working railroad family and it was work on the railroad that brought the family to Danville, Virginia, Audrey’s hometown.

Audrey was a 1942 graduate of George Washington High School. Her mother made her clothes, and she was voted Best Dressed her senior year, as well as Biggest Flirt. Audrey attended Stratford College and was a member of Main Street Methodist Church.

She married Frank Owen, Jr. of Danville in 1946. During their short marriage, they lived in Coronado, California and had one son, Wayne Owen. Audrey then returned to Danville to be with her family and raise her son.

Most of her remaining life, she battled schizophrenia but maintained her grace and dignity throughout. In 1978, Audrey left Danville to be with her son, who was in the Navy, and his family and resided in the Philippines, Monterey, Philadelphia and Coronado. In her later years, as her mental illness waned, she made many friends who loved her very much and will miss her greatly.

She is survived by her son, Wayne, his wife Nancy and one grandson, Paul. The family resides at 1611 Miguel Avenue, Coronado, California 92118.
